

Charles Kimbel, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away June 2, 2012 at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday preceding the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Indian School or Blessed Sacrament Church.
Charles was born March 4, 1929 in McConnell, Tennessee to Reuben and Martha (Myrick) Kimbel. He grew up in Tennessee and went to college for 3 years before joining the Navy in 1947. Charles served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from service in 1952. He married Rosmarie on a Friday and had to ship out in the Navy on a Sunday for 14 months. Charles was lucky to find such a patient woman. They moved to a variety of places before settling in Kansas City, Kansas, due to his work with Western Electric as a quality control inspector. Charles later worked for Tappan and then Montgomery Ward, where he worked for 22 years before his retirement in 1991. After he retired, Charles and Rosmarie enjoyed traveling together. They took trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada and all over the United States. Charles was a Teamster, a member of the Blessed Sacrament chapter of Knights of Columbus for 32 years, and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He volunteered as a shuttle driver at Providence Medical Center and was a member of the Tin Can Sailors Association.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Reuben and Martha as well as his daughter Terri E. Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosmarie D. Kimbel, children: Donna M. Kimbel, David L. Kimbel and wife Gigi, and Rebecca R. Jones; grandchildren: Michael Torrenti, Jason Torrenti, Joseph Miller, Lonnie Hill II, Nicole Hill, Daniel Robinson, Bryan Davis and wife Rebekah, Steven Davis, Krysten Kimbel, Kaytlen Kimbel, Alyssa Jones; great-grandchildren Savannah Miller, Marissa Hill, Mariah Hill, Joseph Miller, II, Naliyah Moore, and Keira Hill; as well as two sisters, Marjorie Ruddle and Rebecca Fry.
