

Charlotte Sexton, 81, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Shawnee Gardens Health Care & Rehabilitation. A Celebration of her Life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 30 at the funeral home.
Charlotte was born November 2, 1930 in Delta, Missouri to Elmo and Irene Wills. She grew up in Delta, Missouri. After Charlotte graduated from high school, she met her husband while working at a clothing factory in Chaffee, Missouri. They married March 9, 1954 and moved to the Riverside area shortly thereafter. Charlotte worked at the American Can Company in Kansas City until 1967 when she left to raise her family. She was very involved in their schooling, even volunteering as the President of the PTA. When her children were in high school, Charlotte returned to the workforce at Osco Drug and retired in 1983. She was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star. Charlotte enjoyed watching stock car racing, canning and crochet. Her family thought she might have done well as a racecar driver, she loved driving fast.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Janice K. Burkin and husband Rick of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Gary W. Sexton and wife Lisa of Leavenworth, Kansas; her grandchildren, Richard Burkin, Danielle and Alex Sexton; and her siblings, Elaine Logston of Royse City, Texas; Mary Logston of McKinney, Texas; Nancy Wilson and husband Bob of Raymore, Missouri; Bill Wills and wife Mary Jane of Kansas City, Missouri; Betty Brehm of Gaines, Oklahoma.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Elmo Morris Wills and Irene Marie (Ratledge) Wills and her brother, Charles (Bud) Wills.
