Chester was born in Washington, DC on May 17, 1950. He graduated from Blue High School in DC and then Bell Vocational School. He joined the military in 1971 and served this country in Vietnam. After his time in the military, he packed up, moved west, stopping and calling Kansas City his new home.
Vonn worked as a certified mechanic for several companies throughout his life, but principally where he could work on his beloved Volkswagen’s. He enjoyed many interests and hobbies throughout his time, including working on his (and friends’) vehicles, and attending car shows and cruise nights. He loved visiting the local wineries with friends and encouraging as many people as possible to join in.
The one love he carried through his entire life, was his passion for Railroads. His Grandfather was a pullman on the railroad and from the time he was very young the ‘Pennsy’ was all he knew. He would ride his bike to watch the trains come in and out of Union Station in DC, being pulled by GG1’s, his favorite engine! His passion continued through his journeys in the military, and coming to KC. He was an avid model railroader and could always be found working on his bench creating engines from his past, present, and even some of his own design. He was always willing to teach or lend a hand.
The one constant with all his passions and life is he loved to socialize with everyone in all the things he did. Whether at a winery, parts store, Red-X, a train or car show, he could interact with just about anyone. Anyone that met Vonn immediately became his friend. He was a great storyteller, embellishing as he went, and could talk to someone for hours, but whenever the need arose, he was always ready to help anyone.
Vonn was also actively involved in his church, Rock of KC, acting as an usher up until shortly before his passing.
‘Outstanding’ was one of the phrases he loved to use, always keeping a positive attitude. That word pretty much sums up what type of person he was! He will be missed!
Chester is survived by his brother James Myles Jr, niece Michelle Myles, and other family and friends. He is also survived by his many Kansas City friends and ‘Family’.
Chester is preceded in death by his mother Ellen M Myles, stepdad Willie Osborne, Father James Myles Sr., Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.

Scatter Me
Scatter me softly to the breeze,
Let me rest among the trees.
No stone or grave need mark my place,
For I am held in love’s embrace.
No need for sorrow, heavy and deep,
My soul awoke; it did not sleep.
The flame returned me to the skies,
Where love lives on and never dies.
Find me in laughter, warm and true,
In ocean tides and morning dew.
Speak my name and I am near,
In every sigh, in every tear.
