

Chester J. Wilson, 89, passed away April 10, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. His visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15th at Chapel Hill—Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16th at the funeral home. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Chester was born December 19, 1925 in Bates County, Missouri to Lafe and Eunice Wilson. He graduated from high school, worked for a time, and then joined the Army, serving during World War II in Italy. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth on January 15, 1951 and enjoyed many years of marriage, before her passing in 1997. Chester worked for several trucking companies, Rock Island and Ideal Trucking, where he retired. After retirement, Chester worked part time at the Woodlands and Trans Am trucking before moving to Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, where he worked at the Ruidoso Downs Race Track for the last thirteen years of his life. Chester was a member of the Teamster’s Union, Local 41 for many years. Chester was a hard-worker, but he also enjoyed taking time to relax on his porch swing with a fresh-picked apricot and a good book.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Elizabeth A. Wilson, his son, Pete Wilson, his great-grandson, Michael Johnson, his step-daughter, Joyce Molina, and his siblings, Mary Proffitt, Kenneth Wilson, and Doris Nininger.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Torres; his loving niece, Georgie Ann Waldrop; his grandchildren, Mia Perez, Chana Navarro, Angela Nielson (Cory), and Michael Gray (Denise); seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, with one on the way; his sister-in-law, Pearl Wilson; his brother-in-law, John Nininger; beloved friends, Leonard Turano, Tamara Riccardelli and many other family members and friends.
