Edith (Edie) Mahany, 94, died August 1, 2024 at Trustwell Living of Overland Park while under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice. Edie was born March 2, 1930 in Appleton City, Missouri and graduated from Appleton City High School before attending nurses’ training at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. She retired from Bethany Medical Center after more than 30 years.
Edie will be remembered as a loving, intelligent, and feisty woman. She was married to her husband of 61 years, Bill, until his death in 2013. They were members of Prairie Baptist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas.
Edie is survived by daughter Carla Norcott-Mahany (son-in-law Bernard); son Brad Mahany (daughter-in-law Jill); grandson Sean Mahany; nephews and nieces Rick and Elvin Mahany, Pam Bennett (husband Art), Keith Carroll, Karen Carroll, and Dennis Carroll; sister-in-law Faye Carroll; three step-granddaughters Catie, Emily and Candice; and two step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and parents Alfred Edward and Mabel Carroll, sister Irene McClellan, and brother Theodore Carroll.
Services will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, on Thursday August 8. Visitation 10:00 am, Celebration of Life at 11:00 am. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
