

Etoile Buchta was born July 16, 1917 in Pratt, Kansas to Marion H. and Celestial (Clapp) Sells. She grew up in the Kansas City area and married her husband David Buchta on Valentine’s Day in 1942. Etoile worked at a variety of places, from Washington High School, Medallion Insurance, Farmland Industries and Masson’s Nursery, but mostly she took care of her home and family. Etoile enjoyed camping and was a member of the Escapees camping group, as well as sewing and traveling. She and her husband David traveled frequently and wintered in Arizona for twenty years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Celestial Sells, sister Marie Davis, brothers-in-law Bill Davis, Glenn Martinson, Marlyn Buchta, and Virgil Buchta as well as sister-in-law Ada Buchta.
Etoile is survived by her husband of seventy years, David Buchta of the home, sons Allen Buchta and wife Carol of Edwardsville, Kansas and Michael Buchta and wife Robin of Phoenix, Arizona, former daughter-in-law Judi Buchta of Kansas City, Kansas; grandsons Aric Buchta and wife Heather of Phoenix, Arizona and David Buchta of Mission, Kansas; great-grandchildren Eleanor and Aaron Buchta, sister Evelyn Martinson of Memphis, Tennessee and sister-in-law Maxine Buchta of North Kansas City, Missouri.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Victory Hills Retirement Community, Sharon Lane Nursing Home and NorthCare Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
