Frank (Frankie) Thomas Swenton was born on May 21, 1943, the second of seven children to Harriett (Zalewski) Swenton and Frank Paul Swenton. Frank lived his entire life in Kansas City, except during his service in the Navy. Frank attended St Patrick's grade school in Kansas City, KS and Bonner Springs high school, where he was salutatorian of his high school class of 1961. He enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL. He attended the University of Kansas earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. Frank was employed at Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell his entire career until he retired at the age of 50.
Frank truly enjoyed retirement, from the age of 50 until his passing at age 78. He followed the stock market daily and traded with Stifel Nicolaus brokers. You could say that the Dow Jones Index and Nasdaq were in his blood. He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal and the Kansas City Star. Frank ventured out early most mornings, always pursuing a bargain at local stores. Frank had a lifelong interest in ham radios and spoke to people around the world from his callsign K0FPL. Other interests included gardening and maintaining his 50 acres with multiple bulldozers and tractors. He spent many hours creating a parklike setting on his acreage. Frank was an enthusiastic gardener. He would make sauerkraut from his cabbage, can his beets, green beans, and tomatoes, freeze his corn, and then generously share with family, friends, and neighbors.
Frank was a "favorite" uncle to many of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He treated them with trips to the gas station to buy soda, candy, and gum. He set up trapeze ropes for them to climb, took them fishing, and taught them how to shoot a gun. On the Fourth of July he would buy a large quantity of fireworks for them to enjoy. Frank had a huge heart for all of his family.
Frank's father passed suddenly in 1994. Frank continued to live in the family home with his mother until her passing in 2013. During his mother's last year of life, Frank took care of his mother at home when she was very fragile after a stroke. He was a lifelong member of St Patrick's Church, Kansas City, KS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriett (Zalewski) Swenton and his father, Frank Paul Swenton, sister-in-law, Roberta (John) Swenton, brother-in-law, Dennis (Lorraine) Hennessey, and nephew, Peter (Stephanie) Krokondelas,
