

Gary L. Clyde, 71, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away September 20, 2016 at home surrounded by family. A Celebration of his Life will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Gary was born May 9, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to Harrie and Margie (Brown) Clyde. A lifelong Kansas City resident, he graduated from Wyandotte High School. Gary married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Silvers, after a whirlwind romance on November 20, 1964. Despite the naysayers who took bets on how long their marriage would last, they enjoyed every moment of their fifty-two years of marriage. Gary worked thirty-nine years for the Kansas City Star in the circulation department. He retired in 2001 with a distinguished career, as he had earned the Safe Driver Award and many others. Gary was a car enthusiast and owned and restored many different cars over the years. He was a fan of the Lakeside Speedway, car shows and cruise nights. At his memorial service, a small selection of his collection will be on display. Gary enjoyed all movies, especially the classics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrie and Margie Clyde. Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Clyde; a son, Steve Clyde and his significant other, Brandi; one brother, Dr. Robert Clyde and his wife Martha; his favorite dog, Cruisin’ Christine; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
