Gary Lloyd Marquis, 81, of Warsaw, MO, passed away May 13, 2019. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m., Sat., May 18, 2019 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Gary was born January 17, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Lloyd and Marie (Barnett) Marquis. He attended Wyandotte High School. Gary joined the US Navy in February 1956. He served on the Destroyer USS Leary as a Machinist Mate. Gary was honorably discharged in December 1957. He was joined in marriage to Beverly June Wooden in 1976. Gary worked as a firefighter for the KCK Fire Department for over 22 years, retiring at the rank of Driver. After retiring, Gary and Beve moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed fishing, genealogy, finish carpentry, and wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Beverly “Beve” Marquis.

Gary is survived by his children, Kellie Marie Applegate (John) of KCK, and Jeffrey “George” Marquis of KCK; his step-children, Tina Marie Jewell of KCK, Terri Riley (Tony) of Harrisonville, MO; his siblings, Renee (Marquis) Roland (Charles) of Deport, TX, and Connie (Marquis) Berry of El Cajon, CA; as well as seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
