A lifelong Kansas City, Kansas resident, as a young man, Harry served in the United States Air Force stationed in Saudi Arabia. Professionally, he worked in the restaurant industry and Pepsico for a number of years. Harry retired in 2002 from the Kansas City Kansas school district, the last 15 years of which he spent as a bus driver.
Harry was lucky enough to marry the love of his life, Rosemary, on May 12, 1981. Their bond was strong and the thought of her brought a smile to his face up until the end.
Not one to complain, he loved to play cards, BINGO, and do word searches, and was an avid Royals and Chief fan. Besides, Rosemary, the other great love he had was the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert Stephens and Myrtle Crabtree Stephens; daughter, Michele Evans Ruis; and three brothers, Gene Stephens, John Stephens, and Lyndel Stephens.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Stephens; children, Debbie Connely (Ray), Kevin Stephens (Lori), Leslie Thompson (Scott), Fred Evans (Patty), and Leonard Evans; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
