On February 9, 1980, Gene married Archie Wood. Archie brought with him one daughter, Shirley (Bill) Ormsby, and two sons, David (Ruth) Wood and Larry (LaDonna) Wood. Together, they lovingly blended their families into one, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family bonds.

Archie and Gene shared a life full of adventure and joy. They enjoyed riding their motorcycle through the mountains of Colorado and Arkansas, traveling in their motorhome, and creating lasting memories with their grandchildren—especially their trips to Meramec Caverns for bluegrass concerts. Hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings in their home for many years became treasured traditions that will forever live in the hearts of their family.
