Helen Katherine “Kathy” Carmack, 74, of Basehor, Kansas gained her wings early morning on September 2, 2024. Kathy was born on March 19, 1950 to Vivian Lorine and Merle Eugene Jackson in Kansas City, Kansas. On August 10, 1968, she married Ebbie Carmack from Deer, Arkansas. Together they had two daughters, Julia Katherine and Judie Denise.
After retiring from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Kathy kept busy with one of her favorite pastime activities- thrifting! She lived for her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was proud of each one of them. Kathy also enjoyed going out for lunch with her sisters and taking yearly “sister trips”. Being one of 12 siblings, Kathy knew how to get the attention of a room, she was quite the prankster. If there was a bug or chance to hide and then jump out at someone, she would take it.
Kathy is survived by her daughters Julia Carmack (Gary Schroeder) and Judie McDonnell, grandchildren Katie (Chelsea) Krall, Jesse (Eva) Gunn, Jeremy McDonnell (Emma Reith), and Jenna McDonnell (Mikel Osborne), great-grandchildren Aariana, Elliott, and Clayton, her sisters Wilma (Gene) Claxton, Christi (Kenneth) Koelzer, Carla Campbell, and brother Jeffrey (Gloria) Wheat, along with an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Ebbie, her siblings Richard “Denny” Jackson, Marguerite Jackson, Murlin “Esther” Norman, Merle “Erick” Jackson, Susie Bossen, Raymond Jackson, and Earl Jackson.
Visitation for Kathy will be held on September 6, 2024 from 6-8pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street Kansas City, Kansas 66112. A funeral service will be held September 7, 2024 at 1:30pm also at Chapel Hill-Butler Butler Funeral Home.
