Inez Irene (Wilmoth) Fry, 82, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away January 7, 2022, at home with her devoted daughter and son-in-law. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt was truly loved and fought a tough battle with her health for several years. Her body just could not continue to battle.
Inez was born November 30, 1939, in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma to George and Winnie (Blasingame) Wilmoth. Her grandmother was a fullblood from the Choctaw Nation. As a small girl, she lived in Oklahoma and California, before her family moved to Kansas City. She attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Inez was previously married and had her first child, a daughter in 1958 and in 1960, a son. She worked as a secretary for most of her career. It was as a secretary at Horn Transportation where she met her husband, Bob Fry. They were married November 30, 1968. Inez was licensed to drive semi-trucks over the road and traveled the country with her husband. They moved to Riverton, Wyoming in 1972 and left for Billings, Montana in 1977. They eventually moved back to Kansas City.
Inez and Bob were always together doing the things they loved; traveling, boating, camping, fishing and being with the family. Inez also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and aunt. After her husband died in 2017, her heart was broken. Her little dog Biscuit was her constant companion and she loved him immensely. Biscuit has been adopted by Billy and Pam.
Inez was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 52 years; her parents, George and Winnie Wilmoth; her sister, Allowise Rodriguez; and her brother, Claude Wilmoth. Inez is survived by her daughter, Pam Slattery (Billy) of Bonner Springs, Kansas; her son, Gerry Smith (Nancy) of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; her grandchildren, Ray Smith (Regina) of Kansas City, Kansas and Paul Brewer of Lawrence, Kansas. She also leaves five great-grandchildren; Gunnar, Luna and Xyla Brewer; Ray J. and Adelyn Smith; two nieces, Cindy Stewart (Jim) of Tacoma, Washington; Debbie Rodriguez of Kansas City, Kansas and 2 nephews, Blue Wilmoth and Ted Rodriguez, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Inez will be missed immensely; our hearts are broken, and we will grieve her loss forever.
