

James W. Vinson, 83, passed away July 22, 2013. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCKS. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 25th at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden.
James was born to Doran and Wilma Vinson. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On April 14, 1988 he married Sharon Priddy. James retired from AT&T at the Data Center after 31 years. During his life he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #179 in Mount Ayr, IA; VFW Post #846 in Shawnee, KS; American Legion Post #327 in Shawnee, KS; and The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1100 in Overland Park, KS. During his time with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he was the Past Worthy President of the Aerie, the Past State President of Kansas; State Treasurer of Kansas and Grand Aerie Father from 2008-2009.
James was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon; sons, Scott D. Vinson and Rodmond Vinson; daughters, Tami Vinson Weiden and Patty Lebrecht; step-son, Samuel J. Caton and 4 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Charity Foundation earmarked for the Diabetes Research Center, 1623 Gateway Circle South, Grove City, OH 43123.
