Jean Mildred Thomas passed away on February 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength. Born on April 22, 1944, to John and Mildred Sparks, Jean was one of five siblings and grew up in the small town of Tonganoxie, Kansas, where the values of family, hard work, shaped the person she would become.
Jean met the love of her life, Richard, and they were married in 1968, sharing more than 50 years of marriage filled with companionship, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a life centered around family and shared experiences that created memories to last a lifetime.
For many years, Jean devoted herself fully to being a stay-at-home mother, providing a loving and stable home for her family. Later in life, she worked at Dearborn Midwest Conveyor, where she eventually retired.
Jean had a love for travel, especially the many cruises she and Richard enjoyed together over the years. Of all their adventures, her favorite was their cruise to Alaska, where she marveled at the breathtaking scenery, incredible wildlife, and the unforgettable sight of the Northern Lights—a moment she cherished deeply.
Though our hearts ache with this loss, we are profoundly grateful for the time we shared with Jean. Family meant everything to her. She is survived by her two children, David Thomas and Lisa Turner, and her seven grandchildren: David Thomas Jr., Shelby
Thomas, Andy Thomas, Brittany Marsh, Kaitlyn Turner, Thomas Turner, and Hope Thomas, all of whom she loved deeply and held close to her heart.
Jean also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Baby. Baby was far more than a pet—she was Jean’s steady companion and a source of comfort and joy during the last two years of her life. Baby will now reside with David and his family, continuing to be a reminder of Jean’s spirit.
