Jeffrey Lee Hilgers, 53, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at K U Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 27th, with services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28th, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Jeff was born December 12, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, and he lived in Kansas City, Kansas all his life. He worked at Hen House for 11 years, where he won the hearts of many customers and co-workers through his kind and generous spirit. He enjoyed giving coins to children so they could ride the mechanical horse, carrying groceries for elderly people and giving hugs to everyone he knew. In his spare time he enjoyed car races and was proud of his white Kia. He liked to spend time with family and friends and was especially close to big sister Shelly.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Geri and Larry Hilgers; sister, Shelly Hilgers; good friend, Terry Skinner; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Mary Ann Hilgers; nieces and nephews; cousin, Bob Frohoff, and wife, Katherine; many friends at Hen House; dog, Joey; and cat, Vladimir.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at K U Medical Center for their care and kindness during Jeff’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Heartland SPCA.
