My mother, Lenora "Lee" Haas, was a long-time employee of Sidney and then Fred Ball.  She always admired the Ball's work ethic and spoke highly of the entire family.  Thank you for the ways you cared for your employees.  We pray you are comforted by the God of all comfort and know His peace.

JoAnn was a very special friend.I was Fred's 1952 Classmate at Washington High School. When she and Fred had a little "spat", she would ask my advise.  I was just a "good listener".I knew her very well. She was such a wonderful hostess for several of Class of '52's reunions. My sympathy and prayers are extended to you three siblings,extended family and friends. She was a caring and loving wife and mother. We will all miss her. God Bless All of You.

Debbie, Diane, and David:  I was so sorry to hear that your mom had passed.  I think back to the pictures of our moms growing up together.  They had a special friendship.  I remember when we would come to KC from Little Rock and we would get together as families.  My brother and I will never forget the drive through Smacks and the screeching of tires. She was so funny! My prayers are with you all.

David you always said “I got my Business wisdom from my dad and my Passion for helping others from my mother”.  David you are without a doubt carrying on your dad's astuteness for business and your mother's Passion helping and bringing out the best in people.  At the last Holiday Celebration, Jo Ann took a hold of my arm and said “you hang in there, we need you”.  Those few words mean so much to me.  Jo Ann's smile, her touch, words of understanding, or twinkle in her eye; had a way of making each and every individual feel special.  She definitely left the world a better and gentler place.

We have lost a Champion! On behalf of our entire family, we send our sincere sympathy to JOANN'S FAMILY...with gratitude for having known such a person and wonderful friend!

JoAnn will be missed by many she had a wit and wonderful smile, she made everyone feel at home in her company. She and Fred touched so many peoples lives and will be greatly missed.

I knew Joann and Fred since we were freshman in high school.  We were great friends.
Joann was a very special person.  I hope that time will quickly erase the sadness of her passing and leave the family only with happy memories.

JoAnn was a dear lady.  I will miss her as a neighbor and a friend.  "Queen B" was always the life of the party and when she was around we could always count on having fun and lots of laughter in our Red Hat group.  She is now with her beloved Fred, and I'm sure has already joined the "Heavenly Hats."  Our prayers and deepest sympathy to the Ball family.

I have a heavy heart after hearing the news of Joann's passing.  Joann was ALWAYS so kind and also such a fun member to know while I was working for Shadow Glen for 15 years!  Although I have been away from KC for awhile,  I will always remember her wonderful, beautiful smile and the kindness and humor she always shared with me.  My thoughts and prayers are with their wonderful children, grandchildren and families; I always looked forward to seeing their family together on every holiday! 

As she did with my daughter, she always would say, "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" when leaving the club every game day!

She was always such a lady, but with that mischievous twinkle in her eye and the special grin she could give, you never quite knew what she was going to say to you!  Such fun, loving and caring was inside her, and with your Dad they reached so many people in need--that will be both of their legacies.  You all must be very proud of them.

I haven't seen Joann in a very long time, but I have forever remembered what a funny, pleasant, wonderful woman she was. Her soul mate complimented her with his ever present grin at the Ball's store on 55th. Fred and Joann, neat couple together again!...Connie Shomin

I have so many fond memories of your Mom and Dad, they are too numerous to mention.  During my 11 years with the Company, they were both surrogate Mom and Dad, as well as mentors to me.  I would not be who I am today if my path had not crossed with theirs.  Honor the memory of Fred, and now your dear Mom, JoAnn.  They were truly one of the greatest couples I have ever known.  They were always very good to me and my family, and very giving of their time, talents, and wealth.  May JoAnn rest in peace.   She is with the love of her life, and in a much better place.

I was so sad to hear of JoAnn's passing.  My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ball family at thisi most difficult time.  JoAnn was one of my favorite clients.  We became great friends during my many semimonthly visits to her home for her much-deserved therapeutic massages.  JoAnn always had a pleasant smile when I arrived and was even more at peace by the time I left her home.  It was always so very refreshing to help take her to a place of comfort and ease during our many visits.  She was a great storyteller and always had the ability to take me to a happier place as well.  She had a heart of gold and could give the very best hugs.  On my way out the door each visit, she would cheer "Rock Chalk Jayhawks!"  I would then respond with, "Go KU!"  We would both get a grin out of ourselves.  Rest in Peace Mrs. Ball.

Fred and JoAnn Ball were both great people.  Now, within the last couple of years, they are both gone. I will always remember their hospitality inviting the grocery salesmen to their beautiful home in KCK after Fred's golf outings.

People like them can't be replaced.

Ball Children,  JoAnn was as beautiful on the outside as she was inside.  After one of the high school reunions, she sent me a couple Red Hat items.  Why?  Because that is who she was, caring and thoughtful.  She will be missed.  RIP JoAnn.  Class of Washington High School, 1952.
