Josephine Dickens, 88, passed away September 21, 2021. Her Homegoing Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 9, 2021, with a visitation from 10:00-11am, all at Metropolitan Baptist Temple, 853 Washington Blvd., Kansas City, KS 66101. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS.
Josephine was born October 10, 1932, in Magnolia, Arkansas, one of seventeen children of Baker and Nancy Ann Anderson. She graduated from Sumner High School. Josephine was an LPN and worked private duty throughout her career. She was joined in marriage to John E. Dickens, Jr. and they raised four children, twins John E. Dickens, III and Jocelyn, Johnathan Dickens, and Vernie Dickens.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John E. Dickens, III.
She is survived by her children, Jocelyn Golden, Johnathan Dickens (Alicia), and Vernie Dickens (Sandra); her grandchildren, Stephanie, Andre, Janiece, Terika, Vernie, Deshaun, Christopher, Vernon, John Jr., John, Jahnta, Blottie, Jawan, Almia, Jera, Kayahna, Chiari, Nikisha, and Tiffany (a Captain in the Air Force, who John Dickens, III was separated from early in life); her brother, Herman Anderson; and many great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
