Judy was born in Kansas City, Kansas to William Russell and Grace Cooling, along with her brother John, and lived there almost all her life. She graduated from Wyandotte High in 1960, Ottawa University in 1965 with a BA in education and began her 35+ year career as an elementary school teacher. She married the love of her life, Tom on Dec 21, 1974 and they went on to raise their two sons, Tommy and Robert. In Dec 2020, they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Judy found joy in so many aspects of life including her family, many friends, her church, the Red Hats Society, and spoiling the apples of her eye, her granddaughter and grandnieces. Judy was never shy about speaking her mind and she had a sarcastic and self deprecating humor that made her so fun to be around. She never met a stranger and would talk your ear off if you let her.
Surviving are her husband Thomas L Lehman; her son Robert Lehman; her son Thomas R Lehman, his wife Megan and their daughter Poppy; her brother John Cooling and his wife Bunny; her niece Heather Morris and her husband Bryan; her niece Jennifer Feikema, her husband Tyler, their daughters Lizzy and Mila; and countless more extended family.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am, and funeral services at 11:00am, Thursday, November 18th at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
