MaryAnn Liveley passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 94 years old due to the progression of dementia. She died with her beloved family at her side and with the knowledge that she was loved and that she had lived life to its fullest. MaryAnn was born MaryAnn O’Such on May 28, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was one of 9 sisters living on Kansas City’s East side. MaryAnn, like many of the Greatest Generation, performed war work during World War II, including work at Lake City Arsenal. Following the war, she worked at the Social Security Administration, during which time, she met her husband-to-be Robert Arthur Liveley (known to some as Art and to others as Bob). They were married on June 30, 1950 and began to raise a family in Kansas City, KS. The vibrant family enjoyed their parents’ zest for life and love of family.
MaryAnn continued to work at her career while also being a mother and wife and retired in 1985 from Farmer’s Insurance. MaryAnn loved family gatherings and even with nine sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins, she was the one who remembered names, locations and family events. She loved family celebrations and was the life of the party, especially when her sisters gathered together. MaryAnn and her husband Art loved travel and found great happiness as winter Texans during the late 80s and 90s. She discovered golf and enjoyed the sun and life in the Rio Grande Valley near Mission, TX. MaryAnn and Art returned to the Kansas City area on a full-time basis around 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven of her sisters, son-in-law, Paul Bennett, and her husband of over 60 years, Art, who passed away in 2015. She is survived by her sisters, Joan Hess and Helen Coit; her daughters Judith Vey Schaefer (Mike), Janet Ann Popek (Ron), and Jean Marie McClure (Don), all of Overland Park, KS. In addition, she is survived by grandsons, Darren Patrick Bennett (Stephanie) of Olathe, KS, and Max Dalton McClure of Edgerton, KS, and granddaughters, Katherine Elizabeth Edwards (Chris) of Bedford, TX, and Haylee Dawn Huff of Overland Park, KS. And joyously, she is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Eliza Vey Edwards, Raven Victoria Fieser, Blade Anisa Baker, and Winter Angelean Bennett. MaryAnn will be missed, but will live on as family continues to gather and enjoy her legacy.
A visitation will be from noon-2:00pm, with funeral services at 2:00pm, all on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
