
Ralph Richard Johnson, Jr., 68, of Basehor, Kansas passed away June 22, 2017 at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, June 26th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sister Servants of Mary.
Ralph was born April 22, 1949 in Springfield, MO to Ralph and Jo Ella Johnson. He graduated from Turner High School and worked for Ford Motor Company. Ralph then worked as a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers #199. He married Ramona Osborn in 1967. Ralph loved classic cars and often worked on cars in his spare time. He also was a big NASCAR fan. Ralph volunteered for the Agricultural Hall of Fame for many years on the Santa Express and also helped refurbish and run the train for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ramona Johnson; his children, Richard Johnson, Sr., and Sharon Horn (Keith); his grandchildren, Richard Johnson, Jr. (E4), Chandler Johnson, and Alli Johnson; and his siblings, Jimmy Johnson (Cathy), Connie Pettigrew (Ed), and Cathy.
