

Rickey K. Mills, 65, of KCK, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2016 after a tragic house fire. A memorial visitation will be from 11:00AM-12:00PM, and memorial services will be 12:00PM, Monday, January 18th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 5799 Broadmoor St, Mission, KS, 66202 or to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Pkwy #200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Rickey was born January 25, 1950 in KCK to Clare “Cookie” and Laura “Irene” Mills. He graduated from Wyandotte High School and married Candice Jones in April of 1969. Rickey worked as a machinist for Rock Island Railroad for 29 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a movie buff and loved riding motorcycles. Rickey enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas and traveling in general. He enjoyed black jack and he always coordinated a family poker night.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cookie and Irene Mills; his daughter, Tammy Lynn Mills-Stewart; his brother, Larry Dean Mills; and his dog, Gizmo.
Rickey is survived by his wife, Candy Mills; his son, Rickey K. Mills, II; his brothers, Tony Mills (Terry), and Mike Mills (Paula); his sisters, Jody Manchion (Ed), and Clarene Rosas, sister-in-law, Sharon (Bob) Osborn; his grandson, Hayden Stewart; and his great-grandson, Elijah Hefton; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
