Ruby M McGuire

Ruby M. McGuire, 84, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away February 16, 2012 at home. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, February 26th, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice Care.

Ruby was born January 6, 1928 in Fairdealing, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Ward. She was a member of The Eastern Star: Sincerity Chapter # 295, VFW Auxiliary, Grinter Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed watching and feeding birds. She worked for Champ Service Lines, retiring in 1987. Ruby was a babysitter to many children in her neighborhood and impacted many children’s lives. She loved to cook and take care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years: Charles J. “C.J.” McGuire in 2010; her son: Charles Lee McGuire in 2001; son-in-law: Steven J. Thomas in 2011 and her brother: Paul Ward.

Survivors include her daughters: Nedra Thomas and Marsha Burgess (Jerry); daughter-in-law: Candy Brown; Donald Petrey whom she considered her son; sisters: Edna Yoakum, Mary Evelyn Channel and Bonnie Cook; grandchildren: Brandon Thomas Sr. (Sarah), Jenna Thomas, Blair Burgess Martin Petrey and Dana Stephens; great-grandchildren: Brandon Jr., Reece & Logan.
