

Theresa Mamie, 81, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 with a Rosary at 10:30 at the Church. The family requests contributions to the Special Olympics Foundation.
Theresa was born August 13, 1930 in Shawnee, Kansas to James Otto and Alice Frances Schuetz. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1948 and attended St. Mary’s briefly. Theresa married her husband Leonard Mamie, Sr. on June 2, 1962 at St. John the Evangelist in Argentine, Kansas. She worked as a bus driver and security officer for Turner School District for most of her life. Theresa was a horse lover, a Notre Dame fan, and an avid bowler. She loved her family and made a point to go to all her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents James and Alice Schuetz, her husband of 40 years, Leonard Mamie, Sr., her son David Mamie and her brother John Schuetz.
She is survived by her children Leonard Mamie, Jr. and wife Kelly and their children Jed and Amelia of Olathe, Kansas; Kevin Mamie and wife Sandy and their son Kyle of Gardner, Kansas; Francis Mamie of Kansas City, Missouri; Michael Mamie of Kansas City, Kansas; Michelle Bruggeman and husband Bryan and their children Brock, Regan, Riley and Brody of Shawnee, Kansas; and her siblings, Jim Schuetz, Frances Sandt, and Vince Schuetz and wife Bette.
