Tom was born on March 12, 1942 to Tom and Mary Ramirez of Kansas City, Kansas. Tom attended Bishop Ward High School and graduated in 1962. Affectionately nicknamed “Taco” by his classmates, he was an excellent athlete and excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. As co-captain of the football team his senior year, he led the team to victory at the state championship. On September 1st, 1962, Tom married his high school sweetheart, Theresa (Saragusa) at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. They had 3 children, Tim, Terry Allen (deceased) and Terri Ann.
Tom’s passion for sports continued throughout his life. He enjoyed coaching his son, Tim, and continued to play in many Ban Johnson Baseball leagues. He sponsored his own 1982 State Champion softball team, “Ramirez Truck Sales” for several years. Tom was a savvy truck salesman at KC Freightliner for 44 years where he met many lifelong friends. He retired in 2022.
Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. His boisterous laugh and the feisty twinkle in his eye portrayed his larger-than-life personality. Tom was a generous man in all aspects of his life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he particularly enjoyed family dinners and annual picnics. Preceding him in death are his son, Terry Allen, his mother and father, Tom and Mary, and his sister Ramona Ramirez. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife of 62 years, Theresa, his son, Tim, and daughter, Terri; his sister Ruby Phalp of Orrick, MO; his granddaughters Alexandria (Eric) Ruzicka, Felicia (Jacob) Sneddon, and Mariah (Joshua) Anderson of Denver, Colorado; six great-grandchildren Gianna, Colette, Dominic, and Isabelle Ruzicka, Nicolai Sneddon, and Adelaide Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
