Bill Abney, Jr., 65, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away May 19, 2019 at Olathe Hospice House. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Friday, May 24, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Bill was born November 28, 1953 in Oregon to Mary M. and William Gloyd Abney, Sr. He graduated from Argentine High School. Bill married Patricia Oesterreich on August 29, 1981. He worked as a body parts man for Summit Trucks for over 35 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, watching Nascar, traveling, and working on vehicles. He loved his family, especially watching his three grandchildren grow up.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Lester Abney and Frankie Abney.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patty Abney; his daughter, Rebecca Abney of KCK; his three grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth and Emma Abney; his sisters, Beverly Roberts, and Delores Babbitt; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
