William “Bill” Terrell White, age 85, entered eternal life peacefully on October 31, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 26, 1932 in Adair, Oklahoma to Vera Catherine (Dye) Newkirk and Terrell Bufford White.
Services will be held on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Turner, 701 South 55th Street, Kansas City, KS 66106. Visitation will begin at 10am with the funeral services immediately following with honors at 11am, lunch will be served at 12pm and entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church of Turner.
Bill married the love of his life, Mary on June 26, 1979 and renewed their vows on February 2, 2017. He will forever be remembered by his wife, Mary, daughters, Kathy (fiancé Rod), Sherri and Cindy (husband Stuart), sons Tim and Chris and his grandchildren, Amber, Dusty, Tyler (wife Jessica), Lyndsey, Rylee, Dalton and great grandchildren Breaunna and Lucca.
Bill served both his country and community, serving as a United States Marine in the Korean War, as well as working in many capacities for the Kansas City, KS Police Department, retiring in 1991. Bill was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Turner.
Bill truly loved life. He was never idle, monitoring and trading stocks daily, fishing whenever possible, gardening, wood carving, carpentry, making the BEST pecan pies, traveling the world, teaching his daughter to play pool and playing card and board games with his family and friends.
He dedicated his life to his family and will forever be remembered for his love of laughter, kindness, patience, unconditional love and always telling the BEST stories.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Newkirk, father, Terrell White, step father, Charles Clifford Newkirk, brother, Robert Lee and sister, Betty Lou, step brother, Donnie Jackson.
