Albert "Dean" McElroy, 92, Overland Park, KS passed away August 1st, 2014. Visitation from 12-1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO.
He graduated from Sterling College and received his Masters and Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Dean was a WW II veteran in the 12th Armored Division.
Dean was an active member of Colonial Presbyterian Church. He had a long career at Midwest Research Institute and retired in 1987. His retirement was full, volunteering weekly at Colonial Presbyterian Church and St Luke's South. He was an avid bridge player, loved building dollhouses for grandkids and tending his rose garden.
Dean was a beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by, his wife of 59 years, Betty McElroy, his sisters Jean Harms and Lucille Malsbury, daughter Judy, daughter Linda Reabe and husband Buck, grandchildren, Katelyn Andree and husband Robert, Shannon Dickson and husband Mark, Eric Reabe and Spencer Reabe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, 9120 W. 75th St, Overland Park, KS 66204 or to Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64114.
