Alicia Gorman Eckerle Spencer, 82, of San Diego, California passed away on September 23, 2006. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 West Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
Alicia was born on February 26, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to Leo J. Eckerle and Elizabeth G. Gorman. On Sept. 1, 1949, she married Charles M. Spencer, who preceded her in death, December 8, 1965. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and finally resided in San Diego, California for more than 50 years. She worked for San Diego Marine Construction Company and Grossmont College.
In addition to her husband Charles, Alicia is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia E. Saunders; and brother, Leo J. Eckerle. She is survived by two nieces, Alicia Polk, of Kansas City, Missouri and Marcia Matteson; nephew, Robert J. Eckerle of Weatherby Lake, Missouri; four great-nephews, one great-niece, and many cousins.
