Aurora C. Zarate

Aurora Cervantes Zarate, 79, of Kansas City, Kansas, died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 5th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1086 N 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 12700 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS.

Friends may call at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd, Kansas City, MO, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 4th. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Zarate was very grateful and joyous that her grandson is a seminarian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society of St. Augustine, c/o Fr. Peter Jaramillo, 2601 Ridge Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Mrs. Zarate was born on July 15, 1939, in Los Quiotes, Michoacán, Mexico. As a devoted wife and mother, she fully dedicating herself to her family and the Lord. Filled with joy, she was known to family and friends to always have a smile and encouraging words to offer. A talented cook, friends and family would frequently drop by to visit as they knew she always had a tasty Mexican meal to share. She would fill any room with singing and laughter. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents Aurelio Cervantes and Elvira Padilla Cervantes; 3 siblings; and her husband of 38 years, Alfonso Ayala Zarate. She is survived by children Jose L. Zarate (Sandra), Maria C. Zarate, Teresa Parada (Enrique), Alfonso Javier Zarate (Maria), Leticia Zarate-Garcia (Teodoro Jr.), Gloria Zarate, and Richard Zarate (Michelle); Grandchildren Jose Jr., Marco, Luis Miguel, Maritza, Br. Martin, Jessica, Gabriela, Cristian, Lucero, Santos, Julian, Diego, Jose Florentino, Isabel, Jefferson, and Andrew; and, Great-Grandchildren Emma, Kataleya, Aiden, and Calvin. She will be greatly missed by many other loving family and friends.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Catholic Community Hospice for the loving care provided and to all the extended family and friends who showed her much love during her illness.
