Barbara moved to Kansas City as a young child and began her education in the Kansas City Public School system, she continued to live back and forth between Kansas City and Arkansas throughout her teenage years. She graduated from Manuel Tech High School in Kansas City.
Barbara went on to raise three children: Teandra Baston, Thomas Johnson and Darrell Baston Sr. In 1984 Barbara began her career at Jackson County Courthouse working for the Office of Human Relations and Citizen's Complaints as an Administrative Secretary. She served the City of Kansas City for over 20+ years when she eventually retired due to health issues.
While retired Barbara became a faithful member of Southside Christian Church where she strengthened her relationship with the Lord and was later baptized.
Barbara loved hosting family holiday dinners, spending time with family, writing and baking. You could often find her "bumping around" to the song of her favorite artist or clapping to the beat of her favorite song. Barbara was often the livest and loudest in the room. She loved spreading her love and wisdom to her family but was never afraid to put you in your place because she said what she meant and meant what she said.
