Beatrice was born on a farm near Corning, Kansas on Thursday, September 13, 1917 to parents William (Bill) and Martha Eisenbarth. The farm house was used for a while to say Mass every two weeks until the church was built in Corning in 1929.
She is the second oldest of 4 brothers, Wilfred, Robert, Maurice, and Regis, and a baby sister, Mary Anne. At the time of her passing, she was the only remaining one of her siblings.
Beatrice’s first memories were of Christmas with her family. Her mother made doll clothes and her daddy made a trunk for the doll clothes.
Later, she went to the Catholic school in Corning. Around 1928/1929 she started playing organ at church. This continued for over 25 years.
Baseball was Beatrice’s favorite sport and she shared her memories of Babe Ruth and other legendary players.
Around 1933, she met Wilfrid “Bill” Stallbaumer. She loved to watch Bill play traveling small town baseball. Her first date with Bill was in Seneca around 1934. They went to see a movie together. She remembered it as “Tell Me About Dolly.” She liked the movie so much, her mother bought her the sheet music.
Bill and Beatrice later married in February 1936. She continued to watch him play baseball until he could no longer due to a disability. He then moved on to being an umpire.
Around 1948, while raising her children, she worked as the lone woman putting up steel bins from Monday - Friday. This required traveling in Kansas and surrounding states.
Having moved to Holton, Kansas in 1950, she started working at Slimmaker. Later, she transferred and moved to Kansas City in 1958. She was the driver of a carpool every day to Slimaker downtown until they closed the KC location. Following the closure, she started working at Fashionbelt.
She went on many cruises with her son, Will. Together, they went to the Vatican 3 times and even got to see the Panama Canal. They also flew to Okinawa, Japan to see her other son, Dick, who at the time was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force.
In 1980, she moved down to Chickasha, Oklahoma and became a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
A devout Catholic, she spent over 3 hours praying every day. She was a member of the Altar Society, Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters of America.
She is preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; children, Gary Stallbaumer, Will Stallbaumer, and Sharon Hill; grandsons, Teddy Stallbaumer and Craig Nichols; and great-great granddaughter, Elizabeth Hrenchir-Johnson.
She leaves behind her children, Marilee Lacy, Mark Stallbaumer, and Dick Stallbaumer; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren (one due in August); and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Beatrice’s memory be made to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, 309 S. Stewart Road, Liberty, MO 64068 or Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
