Bernard was born on November 13, 1947 to Kenneth Jefferson and Marie Louise (White) Jefferson.
Bernard was a standout athlete at Fort Scott Kansas High School. He lettered in football, basketball, and track and was an All-South East Kansas League (SEK) selection in his Senior Year. He also set High School records in high jump and high hurdles. He attended Fort Scott Community College, Pittsburg State, and the University of Kansas.
Bernard was employed for many years by the city of Kansas City, Missouri and Jackson County.
He was an avid sports fan following the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Jefferson, his mother Marie Jefferson, his brother Vincent Jefferson, his nephews Jeremy Jefferson and Dante Jefferson and his great nephew Peyton.
Bernard is survived by his sisters; Diane Williamson, Melva Factory and Donna Jefferson, four brothers; David, Paul, Michael and Jon Jefferson, two nieces; Cassandra and Rochelle Jefferson, four nephews, TJ Williamson, Marcus Williamson, Cedric Williamson and Jamey Jefferson and several great nieces and nephews who are children of Cassandra and Rochelle Jefferson, and great nephews Kendrick, Josef, Gabriel, Cedric, and one great niece, Katera.
He will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Bernard will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. A committal service will follow at 1:00pm in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
