She was born on March 5, 1940 in Weber, Wyoming to George and Vivian O’Hara.
Betsy was an accomplished artist, painter, sculptor and teacher. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Betsy was well read, well educated, and above all, loved and respected by all who knew her.
Betsy married Paul Cacioppo on June 15, 1963 in Prairie Village, Kansas. Survivors include her two sons, Christopher Cacioppo and David Cacioppo (Hayley); a sister, Amy Sexson; brothers, Michael and Edward O’Hara; six grandchildren, Rory, Mira, Kira, Parker, Calen and Cooper.
Betsy graduated from Topeka High School in 1958 and then graduated from the University of Kansas. She also attended the Kansas City Art Institute and the University of Missouri KC. She served as the President of the Kansas City Artist Coalition and her works were displayed in dozens of juried exhibits where she won numerous awards. Betsy was a strong supporter of the arts including the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the KC Symphony and The Unicorn Theatre.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Burial will follow at the Mount Moriah Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will also be held later this fall.
