Betsy Ann Jennings was born in Lexington, Tennessee to Dolly (Love) and Freeman Burkett. In 1952, she met and married the love of her life, Bill H. Jennings, and together they raised their daughter Dianne. In 1956, they moved to Kansas City, where they opened and managed Waldo Foreign Car Service together until Bill's passing in 1983. In 1987, she welcomed her granddaughter, Amanda, with whom she happily spent many days and summers. Betsy was a long-time employee of the restaurant Waid's, where she was a preferred waitress to many returning customers. Betsy maintained a very youthful soul despite the years that passed. She had a vibrant and colorful personality with a passion for laughter and fun. She was a lover of animals and she cared for many over the span of her lifetime. She was loved and she will be missed. She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, William H. Jennings, sister Mary Donahue and parents Dolly and Freeman Burkett. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Bryan Hord (Lone Jack), her granddaughter, Amanda Dowler, husband Thomas and great-grandsons, Jackson and Aidan Dowler (Oak Grove), her brother, Rudolph Burkett (Lexington, TN), and many nephews and nieces.
-MISS ME-
When I come to the end of the
road and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little, but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once
shared, miss me but let me go.
For this journey we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely
and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know
and bury your sorrows
in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.
