

Betty Peterson, 87, of Fairway, Kansas, passed away from pneumonia on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 17th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, KS. Cremation. Reception will follow at the Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16th at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Greater Kansas City, 301 East Armour Blvd., Suite 620, Kansas City, MO, 64111.
Betty was born January 12, 1923, in Valparaiso, Nebraska, to Charles and Anne Hruby. She was known as “A Mother to many”. She worked for Weight Watcher’s as a receptionist for 38 years. Betty was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish since 1946, and a founder of the Helen Hockinson Memorial Library at St. Agnes and St. Agnes School Library. She was a charter member of the St. Agnes, Altar Society, Rosary Circle and Our Lady of Guadalupe Circle. Betty also served as Secretary “The Trash Lady” of the Reinhardt Home Owner’s Association.
Betty was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Bryant. She is survived by her husband, Neale “Pete” Peterson; children, David “Dave” Roy Peterson of Overland Park, KS; Anamaree “Amy” Redlinger and husband, Joe of Hollis, NH; Mark John Peterson of Fairway, KS; Julee Marie Dettenwanger and husband John of Hockessin, DE; grandchildren; Georgiane, Ken, James, Philip, Adam, Jack, Chris; great-grandchildren, Jordanne, Max, Jacob, Sam, Elizabeth, Shaya, Aspen, Allen, Rebecca, Abby and Joshua.
