She lived the bulk of her life in Leawood, Kansas, having also lived in Norfolk, Virginia, and London, England. She met her husband, Donald D. Dixon, while they were both attending the University of Kansas. They were married after graduation on April 26, 1958. They were blessed with three children and 5 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Bev always said that her husband, children, and grandchildren came first in her life.
At KU, Bev graduated with a BA degree in Physical Education. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Kappa Phi Women’s Christian organization, serving as president. She was a talented musician and a KU varsity athlete in field hockey and softball.
Bev taught at Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She was a travel agent in Kansas City for 17 years until the birth of her grandchildren. She was a member of PEO and a past member of Mission Hills Country Club.
Because of her husband’s career in international work, living in London, and her work as a travel agent, the family became more involved in travel. Bev was always ready to grab a bag and her camera at a moment’s notice to see a new country or revisit a favorite. She was able to visit 87 countries and was always anxious to get back to her kids, grandchildren, and garden. Bev loved gardening, skiing, golf, tennis, and taking photographs. Some of her favorite times were the many years that the family spent together in their home in Breckenridge, Colorado.
She was predeceased by her mother, father, and husband of 68 years. She is survived by their three children, Kirby Dixon Brown (Kerwin), Drue Ann Dixon Hickey (David), Bradley Warner Dixon, and her sister, Chloe Childers.
