God saw Bruce Alan Cohoon of 73 years old getting very tired and a cure was not to be. So, God whispered “COME TO ME.” He passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. His courage and pain kept going to the very end with a brief battle of cancer. He fought his battle like a true warrior & was an inspiration to all.
Bruce resided in Leawood, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Victoria, of 48 years and his children that he adored. His daughter, Brittany Nicole Accurso and son-in-law, Christopher Accurso. His only son, Garrett Cohoon. His precious little granddaughters, Isabella, Gianna, Adelina, and Eliana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leila and Don Cohoon, and his father-in-law, John Solito.
Bruce graduated from Truman high school in 1971. He was described by his classmates as the “COOL GUY” who drove a Corvette. He continued on to college at the University of Missouri Kansas City Business School. Bruce worked full-time at United Parcel Service as a night Sort Manager while attending college. He then went on to open his own business Royal Brokerage in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He then moved on to the family business, Professional Beauty Products, presided as President for 43 years. He retired at 64 years old.
At the young age of only 18, Bruce was very ambitious and always had a passion for making money. He was very driven and had an endless thirst for knowledge in investing. He purchased his first rental property, then aggressively grew his real estate empire over the past 55 years. He was quoted as saying, “It was just a hobby that got out of hand.” Real Estate was his greatest joy and accomplishment in life. He loved mentoring young men, and especially his son, Garrett, to invest in real estate.
Bruce had many passions in life. He had a great love for animals, and he was described as the Animal Whisper. His numerous pets included a boa constrictor snake, Amazon birds, Koi fish and ponds. His favorite was his Afghan hound named Marley. He was so proud for Marley to win his championship at the American Kennel Club of US.
Another love was cars and racing over the years. He collected many. He was a member of the Corvette Club and Porsche Club of Kansas City. Bruce also enjoyed all his music, with the Beatles being his favorite.
He frequently visited Las Vegas loving to play at the craps table, then on to his favorite place away from home with his wife to Laguna Beach and Palm Desert, California.
His friends would know him for his vibrant personality and humor. He was always smiling and had an unwavering spirit about him.
Bruce was always known for his catchphrases. “If I felt any better, I couldn’t stand it.” He never knew a stranger and his best friends in life began with Scouting. He was an Eagle Scout himself and spent numerous summers at scout camp every year with all the young scouts and dads. These dads all became best friends, and the stories are endless. They are still all friends, and their bond will never break. That camp would never be the same after Troop 396 left.
Bruce was a true friend that never lost contact with his high school friends, Greg and Ralph. To this day they still remain the best of friends with too many memories to count.
Bruce will only be gone from our sight but never forgotten from our hearts. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all his wonderful friends for the outpouring of support and love during his illness.
I personally want to thank the wonderful Management and team at Village Shalom for giving Bruce the best care and love during his illness. It became his new family, and he loved them dearly.
