Mrs. Field, a graduate of Vassar College, later acquired an advanced degree from UMKC, where she was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, an honorary fraternity. As an early volunteer in the community she served on many boards, including the Missouri Association for Social Welfare, K.C. Mental Health Association, Planned Parenthood and K.C. Association for the Blind. Her transition to a career in the Social Sciences began at the old Psychiatric Receiving Center, followed by the former Institute for Community Studies, where she was promoted to Sr. Research Assistant, K.U. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years old, Delbert H. Field. Mrs. Field is survived by a son, Delbert H. Field, Jr. and three daughters, Susan Field, Barbara Troeger and Margaret Field, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
