

Joy Shaw, 69, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 20th, 11:00 a.m., at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS 66224. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House or The American Heart Association in memory of Joy Shaw.
Joy was born December 13, 1944 in Norfolk, NE to Forrest and Jeanette Salyers. Joy graduated from Kanopolis High School, Kanopolis, KS in 1964. She married Warren T. Shaw November 1, 1964. Joy and Warren lived in several different places while Warren served in the Air Force. They lived in Minot, ND, Panama City, FL, Oxfordshire, England, Las Vegas, NV and Ellsworth, KS. While in Ellsworth, Joy went to college, got a degree and started her own hairstyling salon where she enjoyed a 30 year career. Joy and Warren retired and moved to the Kansas City area to spend more time with their family.
Joy was preceded in death by her three sisters, Kathy Curtis, Glenda Jensen and Marva Salyers. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Warren Shaw; her son, Greg (Angie) Shaw, and Tom (Kim) Shaw; six siblings; Nina Drennen, Forrest Salyers, Bill Salyers, JoEllen Freeman, Debbie Randolph, Joni Davis; five grandchildren; Jacob Shaw, Tessa Hann, Cara Shaw, Teresa Shaw and Jackson Shaw; and her beloved black Schnauzer, Maggie Mo.
