

Charlene S. Morgan, “Charlie”, 82, passed away on December 1, 2010 at Kingswood Health Center. Beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Morgan, of 48 years and is survived by her sons Michael “Wally” and Patrick Leo of Kansas City, Missouri and her daughter Sue of Alexandria, Virginia; sister Dottie Vickery and her husband Charlie of Chaffee, Missouri; brothers-in-law John P. Morgan and David M. Morgan and sister-in-law Linda Fowler and their spouses Barbara, Patty Lou and Ronnie of Pensacola, Florida, Frank Morgan of Caruthersville, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews and wonderful lifetime friends. Charlene was born on November 4, 1928 in Chaffee, Missouri, daughter of Leo and Dora Scheeter and moved to Kansas City in 1948 when she married. Charlene began her career in 1959 working at Western Electric in Grandview, Missouri before the new AT&T plant was built and later moved operations to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She remained through all the corporate name changes of the telephone company and ultimately retired from Lucent Technologies. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and later, St. Thomas More Catholic Church. An avid knitter and crocheter, Charlene was known for making and/or donating afghans to churches, family and friends; she was forever being asked to make just one more afghan for someone! Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131 followed by burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation, 6300 E.
