Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Ernestine, and his children, Karen, Becky, and David. His memory will also be cherished by his 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The son of Charles Ray and Edith Merle (Grace) Chrisman, Charles was born on May 16, 1921 in Ewing, Illinois. He attended Anna High School (Illinois) and Evansville College (Indiana) before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. After his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1945, he worked for three decades for the U.S. Postal Service. Charles will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and commitment to his faith and family. He volunteered in the Baptist church as a Sunday school director, outreach director, and deacon.
A funeral service in honor of Charles will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131 with Dr. Brandon Park officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery South. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
