Charles Edward Harvey

Charles Edward Harvey, affectionately known to many as “Charlie,” passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Charles returned to his hometown throughout his life, ultimately spending his later years in the community he cherished most.

A proud graduate of Paseo High School, Charles served 30 years in the United States Army, retiring with distinction as a Sergeant Major. He honorably served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and his leadership and dedication to duty left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of serving with him.

His commitment to service extended beyond his military career. Charles was a devoted member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and remained passionate about Scouting throughout his life—mentoring young Scouts with the same care and integrity that earned him the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Harvey, and his grandson, Dustin Harvey. He is lovingly remembered by his children—Kathy Kosma, Robert Harvey, and Michael Harvey—and his six grandchildren: Sean Williams, Katelyn Rude, John Kosma, Sean Harvey, AshLeigh Harvey, and Austin Harvey. He also held deep affection for his son-in-law, Gary Ragland, whom he embraced as one of his own.

His final days were marked by compassionate care from Trustwell of Overland Park and Monarch Hospice. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for their support.

Charles found comfort and companionship in the enduring friendship of Ms. Carola Fuller, whose quiet presence offered strength and warmth through the years.
