Charles Sylvester Leavell, 95, passed away November 18, 2011 at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home. Private family graveside in
Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Charles was born September 17, 1916 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son of Albert and Dorothy (Meeker) Leavell. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving seven years in the South Pacific. Upon returning he worked as a Store Manager for Milgram’s Foods, retiring in 1977. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold Leavell and sister Evelyn Krouse. Charles is survived by his wife Virginia (Sheridan) Leavell of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Harry Denney, Jr. of Kansas City; and grandsons and their wives Patrick and Victoria Denney of Raytown, Missouri and Mike and Lindsay Denney of Kansas City, Missouri.
