Charles Edward “Chuck” Watts, 83, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, in Cumberland, Maryland. He was born on December 25, 1930 to the late Ed and Lola Watts in Hayti, Missouri. He graduated from Hayti High School.
Chuck served in the U.S. Navy, 1951-1955 as a Radioman. He then worked for the Missouri Highway Department, the U.S. Geologic Survey, 25 years., Corp. of Engineers, 10 years. and part time in the Public Works Department for the City of Independence, 10 yearrs. He married Bonnie on October 28, 1966.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Terri Yost, husband Butch; grandchildren, Michael and Rachael Yost. Sister, Francis Cook, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Terry Charles, and Glen Edward, sister Vera Lemonds.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 East 39th Street, Independence. Visitation is 1:00-3:00 p.m. with service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association, Heart of America Chapter, 3846 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
