Charlie graduated from Vanderbilt University with Master of Divinity and was Pastor first at the Christian Church, then at Trinity Methodist Church after moving to Kansas City, MO in 1959. As a veteran of the United States Navy, he served as Pastor from 1951 -1952. He married his beloved wife, Rella, and together they raised
3 children, Gloria, Robert (Etta) and Michael (Penny). Charlie was known for his storytelling and his wealth of knowledge on diverse subjects which he loved sharing.
Charlie is survived by his children, Gloria, Robert and Michael and his grandchildren, Melanie, Jason and Sumiko. Also, his surviving sister, Gladys Yourieff residing in Florida.
Charlie's stories, advice and humor will be remembered and
cherished by all that knew him.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on April 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm. Committal will take place at Mount Moriah Cemetery South at 1:00 pm.
