
Cheri Lee Phillips was born on February 8, 1945 in Kansas City to parents Francis Leslie and Geraldine Harriette Pettyjohn. She was a loving wife for almost 60 years (21,888 days to be exact) to Larry Stephen Phillips; a dedicated mother to Kellie Phillips, Leslie (Rocky) Overman, and Laura (Chad) Bixby; an involved grandmother to Cheyenne (Breanna), Cody (Charlotte), Rocci Marie, Mercedes, and Kaylee; an adoring Great Grandmother to Callie and Atticus; sister to Charles Pettyjohn and Jamie Fluke. She was an amazing woman who treated so many as part of her family. Her kindness, generosity, and warmth touched everyone who knew her and her love knew no bounds.
She dedicated her life to raising her daughters by staying home with them while they were young, dedicated 30 years of her life to the nursing profession, working as a Registered Nurse. Her commitment to providing compassionate and skilled care made a significant impact on countless patients and colleagues. Cheri had a passion for the local AFS chapter and dedicated many years to promoting intercultural exchange. She had a positive impact on the lives of her bonus daughters Yvette (Ecuador) and Tomoko (Japan). Cheri was extremely creative and hobbies included any facet of sewing and crafting. She was also a teacher of Western Round Dancing, sharing her love of the art with her husband. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and strength. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Our loss is heaven’s gain!
