

Christopher M. Winger, 64, passed away on October 28th. Chris was born on August 29, 1953 to George & Mary Jo Winger, on their 3rd anniversary. Chris was a lifelong Kansas City resident, attending Rockhurst High School and University of Missouri Kansas City. He married the love of his life, Joyce, in 1980 and together raised two sons, Christopher II & Matthew. He had the joy of two wonderful grandchildren.
Chris was a proud Certified Public Accountant founding Winger and Company that thrived for over 30 years. Chris worked hard and sacrificed for his family. He gave of himself in the service of family and others without giving a second thought. One such organization that was especially meaningful to him was Goodwill Industries where he served as a fourth generation Board Member. He was quick with a joke and a touch of jovial sarcasm that he delivered in his own soft spoken way. Chris was a devout Catholic in every aspect of his life and shared his love of Christ with his family. He & Joyce were founding members of the Church of the Ascension, where they remain active today.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Chris is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce, sons: Christopher II (Erin) & Matthew (Mary), grandchildren: James & Claire, siblings: George T. (Diane), James (Jill), Mary, & Peter, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00PM with visitation to follow until 8:00PM, November 3rd at the Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St. Overland Park, KS 66213. Funeral Mass will be 10:00AM, November 4th, at Church of the Ascension, burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Parkinson's Foundation or Rockhurst High School.
