Clara C. Brown

In the morning hours of August 22, 2015 our Lord and Savior called Clara Catherine Brown, age 92, to her eternal home. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 26th at the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, 2115 Maturana Dr, Liberty, MO; burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery North. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM. A second visitation is from 10-10:30 AM Wednesday at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home or St. Patrick Catholic Church (North).

Clara was born August 9, 1923 in Covington, KY. She was a kind, loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. All who knew her loved her. She loved to make people happy and will be dearly missed. Clara was a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church and had been a resident of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home for the past 5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Brown, a Retired Major of the KCPD and a former Chief of Police of Independence, MO. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Dr. Elmer (Moe) Pieper, OD; and a sister, Loretta Pieper Marqua.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Elizabeth Brown and Kathy (Ralph) Hentges; a son, Dennis R. (April) Brown; granddaughters, Ashley Hentges and Corrie Viers; great granddaughters, Piper and Sequoia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Everett Koehn and staff, Our Lady of Mercy Country Home staff, and Kansas City Hospice staff for their loving care and compassion for Clara.
