C.M. Hower, Jr., 94, passed away November 19, 2016. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Tuesday, November 22 at Floral Hills Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2 PM. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Jr. moved into the KC area prior to WWII and had lived here since. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater. He worked as a welder for Pittman Manufacturing for 18 years. Jr. was active in the Central Auto Racing Boosters (CARB) and was the first driver inducted into the CARB Hall of Fame. In 1962 he was the Missouri State Fair dirt track champion for the second time as well as 1962 track championships at Riverside, Lakeside and Olympic Stadium. Jr. was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mildred; a daughter, Debbie Ratliff; a granddaughter, Melissa Hower; a grandson, Joseph Hower; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include 2 daughters, Betty Hughes (Ronnie), Brenda Hardin; 2 sons, Buster Hower (Glynis), Roy Hower; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
